The month of February has been designated as Black History month. The Fall River Republican City Committee would like to acknowledge the many African Americans who, through their diversity and contributions, have helped shape the history and destiny of our country.

Though there are many African Americans who are members of many political parties, the Fall River Republican City Committee would like to highlight a few notable Republicans:

Fall River GOP Highlighted on Local TV

The Fall River Republican City Committee was recently represented on local cable access, and now on the Internet, on a recent episode of “The Richard Urban Show” (http://therichardurbanshow.blip.tv).

Host Richard Urban welcomed City Committee Chairman Jeffrey Hopkins and Vice Chairman CJ Ferry, RN as his guests for the thirty minute episode. Topics included what the City Committee does and how interested voters could get involved, as well as several others.

Meetings Tonight

The City Committee meets at 6:30pm tonight at the Fall River Lodge of Elks. Ward meetings are happening at 5:30pm and 6:00pm tonight before the City Committee meeting.

Fall River GOP Ward Sites Now Online

All of the organized Wards in the city have new Web sites as part of the Fall River GOP system. They’re subdomains and each one is set up in the same style, with the same settings. They’re for information about individual Ward activities, or other appropriate information.

If you visit one of the Wards that’s not yet organized, you’ll go to the appropriate Ward page on the Fall River GOP site. For example, if you entered “http://ward5.fallrivergop.org“, you’d still get a Web page, just not a Ward Committee site.

New Mobile Theme

Now visitors to www.fallrivergop.org who use their handheld (iPhone, iPod, Android, Storm, or Pre) will be able to see the mobile version of our site. The new mobile version features access to news and information posts as well as selected web pages, including many contact, link, and information pages.

Visitors who continue to view our site using their regular computers should not notice any change.

This update marks another step towards making ourselves accessible to anyone who’s interested in learning more about who we are and what we’re about. This new functionality reflects our embracing of technology and closely follows on the heels of our recent addition of a Facebook presence.

The Fall River Republican City Committee now has a presence on Facebook.

This additional online media outlet affords the Committee the opportunity to reach a broader audience on a more regular basis than might typically visit this particular site.

At the Fall River Republican City Committee meeting on Monday, December 28, 2009 all officers and members are requested to attend in business attire. All gentlemen are requested to wear a shirt and a tie.

Dustin Werstler will be bringing his photo studio equipment to the meeting for the purpose of taking photos for use on the Web site and, possibly, for other committee uses.

As the newly elected Chairman of the Fall River Republican City Committee, I wish to invite all Republicans to join our committee.

We are moving in a new direction and intend to progressively grow the city wards as well as the City Committee. We have many new events planned for your involvement. We welcome any and all Republicans who wish to become involved and to help move our Republican City Committee forward in seeking Republicans for elected office.

Updated Content for Kids

Earlier today the content for kids on the Fall River Republican City Committee was updated to include coloring pages and our first word search.

The coloring pages feature American symbols, including the White House, the Statue of Liberty, a couple of space shuttles, and two different fighter jets. The word search features the 44 presidents of the United States of America, from George Washington to present.

There are more word searches in development, as well as several other puzzles — including crosswords – for kids of all ages.

While the coloring pages are Creative Commons licensed and used with permission of www.letmecolor.com, the current puzzle is a Fall River Republican City Committee original. It is copyright 2009 with permission for unlimited reproduction and sharing granted provided you don’t alter it in any way.

New Phone Number

The Fall River Republican City Committee is pleased to introduce our new phone number. Individuals interested in contacting the committee, in addition to using our contact forms, can now call as early as 9am or as late as 10pm, seven days a week. An automated voicemail system will handle after-hours calls.

The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer can be reached at this number. Any voicemails left are automatically routed to all four of these officers so you can be assured of a prompt response.
